FAQ ABOUT COOKING WITH AVOCADO OIL vs OTHER OILS

Does Avocado Oil Have a High Smoke Point?

Avocado Oil is known as the most versatile cooking oil & one of the best oils for high heat cooking. With the highest smoke point of 500 degrees, avocado oil is good for baking, roasting, sautéing, and frying with it. Cooking with Avocado Oil vs Olive Oil?

Extra virgin olive oil has the lowest smoke point at 320 degrees versus avocado oil at 500 degrees. Virgin oils contain all the waxes and residues from the nut/seed/fruit they are being extracted from. With high wax, vitamin and mineral content living in the oil, it will more easily breakdown at the onset of rising temperatures. Extra virgin olive oil is idea for lightly sautéing food or adding flavor to dressings.

Avocado Oil vs High Oleic Safflower For Cooking?

High oleic safflower oil has the second highest smoke point, behind avocado oil at 450 degrees. Safflower oil is ideal when roasting, sauteing, and frying but not recommended for baking.

Avocado oil vs Canola Oil For Cooking?

Compared to avocado oil, canola oil has a lower smoke point at about 400 degrees. With a lower smoke point, it’s recommended to only fry and bake with canola oil.

Avocado Oil vs Grapeseed Oil for Cooking?

Grapeseed Oil has a lower smoke point than avocado oil at 400 degrees, the same as canola oil. Having a lower smoke point, it’s recommended for lighter cooking including sauteing and baking. Like avocado oil, it has a neutral flavor and lets the other ingredients of the dish take center stage.

Coconut Oil vs Avocado Oil for Cooking?

Compared to avocado oil, coconut oil only has a smoke point of 350 degrees. Being on the lower end compared to other cooking oils, coconut oil is recommended when lightly sauteing foods, baking, and for spreads.

Can Avocado Oil Be Reused after Frying?

Avocado oil is high in monounsaturated fats & antioxidants which is essential in an oil that will remain stable during cooking. However, all of these great attributes go out the window once the oil is used. Unfortunately, reusing avocado oil, as well as many other oil, is a very common practice & can be hazardous to your health.
