Top DIY Beauty Treatments using Avocado Oil

Avocado oil is the new beauty craze! Did you know in some parts of the country it’s known as the “fruit of youth”? This oil being rich in many vitamins and healthy fats, makes it an essential part for having healthy skin, and is my choice for making homemade beauty treatments. If you don’t have time or the money to go to a spa, or you don’t want to buy products with chemicals added, your best bet is to make them yourself.

I’m pretty sure most of you already know the benefits of using avocado oil, and probably already cook with it, but did you know this delicate oil can bring amazing benefits to your skin; such as better hydration, softening of the skin, and even bring a glow to your face? I do prefer to use homemade beauty treatments because I know there’s no chemicals going on my body. Being chosen as one of Chosen Foods’ Ambassadors gives me the tools and products to experiment with making my own products at home, and for that, I’m very grateful. We all know there are already beauty DIYs on the internet using avocado oil, but if you are going to make your own, just make sure you’re using one that is 100% Pure Avocado Oil (nothing more added) such as Chosen Foods. Below are my favorite treatments that can be made at home.

My Top DIY Beauty Treatments using Avocado Oil for Skin and Hair

Lavender Salt Body Scrub – this took me all of 5 mins to put together. I used 1/2 cup 100% dead sea salt, 1/2 cup Epsom salt, 1/4 cup avocado oil, 10 drops of 100% pure lavender essential oil. Mixed it all together in an 8oz glass container with lid. Garnish with lavender buds. Dress it up and give it as a gift like I did or use it yourself. A smaller glass container can be used.

Split Ends – before washing your hair, massage about 1/2 tsp of avocado oil in and around your split ends. Do this weekly if needed.

Hand Scrub – I’ve already perfected the best Rosemary Lemon Salt Hand Scrub

Rose Sugar Body Scrub – this also took me about 5 mins to put together. I used 1 cup organic cane sugar, 1/4 cup avocado oil, 5 drops of geranium essential oil (rose EO can be used too), 1/2 tsp vanilla extract. Mixed it all together in an 8oz glass container with lid. Garnish with mini roses. (see top photo for finished product).

Hair Mask – for a hot oil treatment I found this info to be pretty awesome and I wanted to give them all the credit – Avocado Hot Oil Treatment Cinnamon & Clove

Face Mask – This one I had to experiment with. I found a similar recipe online but tweaked it a bit to my satisfaction. I must say, it’s awesome now!! You’ll need:
• 1 tbl glycerin
• 1 tbl avocado oil
• 4 tbl bentonite clay (Whole Foods)
• 2 tbls Epsom salt
• 1 drop clove essential oil
• 1 drop cinnamon essential oil
• 1 tbl warm water

Mix all together saving the essential oils for last. Blend until mixture turns to a paste. If too crumbly add more warm water a little at a time. Apply mask to your feet and leave on for 10 mins. I read where it’s best to put your feet in plastic bags and wrap a towel around them. This will help keep moisture in. Then, load your feet up with some soothing lotion. This should make enough for one application.

Cuticle Oil – all you need is avocado oil and vitamin E oil. Mix together and rub on your cuticles. I do this at night in my bed, and while I’m at it, I rub on my feet too, especially my heels. It’s amazing how your hands and feet will feel and look in a week’s time. So see, you really don’t have to spend money on these products when you can make them at home….and if you do, you’ll know exactly what you’re putting on your skin. To me, that matters!!

Chosen Foods Avocado Oil is made with the finest avocados, primarily from Mexico, and is 100% pure and naturally refined.
