Directions For Snowflake Sugar Cookies Recipe
- Begin by getting a large mixing bowl and mix together your Chosen Foods shortening, sugar, milk, and vanilla until it is smooth. Then slowly add in both eggs. Leave the bowl aside.
- In another bowl, sift together your flour, baking powder, and salt until combined.
- Slowly fold in your dry ingredients to your wet ingredients until the mixtures are combined and a rough dough forms
- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
- Preheat your oven to 375F and prepare a baking tray with lined parchment paper. Once the dough is chilled, flour your working surface and roll out your dough to about ¼ inches thick. Cut out snowflakes using a cookie cutter. Be gentle with the dough so it doesn’t tear.
- Bake the cookies at 375F for about 8-10 minutes or until golden brown around the edges.
- Let the cookies cool and prepare the icing. Add your shortening and vanilla extract to a small bowl, creaming the shortening until smooth.
- Then add a cup of powdered sugar at a time, along with the milk, and stir until a frosting forms. For a thicker frosting, add more powdered sugar than milk!
- Using a plastic baggie or piping bag, pipe the frosting onto the snowflakes in a design of your choosing! Sprinkle on your festive sprinkles and then enjoy!
