Let’s start with why we’ve decided to get in on the refrigerated dips game. As you know, our first priority at Chosen Foods is always quality. With so many avocados on hand, we wanted to give avocado lovers, like you, access to Baja Med-inspired quality guac that’s so delicious, it tastes like it was picked at peak freshness, hand scooped, smashed and spiced right in a seaside avocado grove.
Our Current Offerings at Sprouts Farmers Market
While we hope to expand this line in the future, we’re currently offering the following products at most Sprouts grocery stores.
- Classic Guacamole, a mild guac available in 8 ounce tubs.
- Spicy Guacamole, a medium hot guac with habanero and serrano chilies, available in 8 ounce tubs.
- Avocado Tomatillo Salsa, a blend of creamy avocado and tangy tomatillos available in a 12 oz tub.

Now that the cado’s out of the bag, we want to share the reasons our guacamole and salsa are everything you’ve avo wanted in a healthy snack.
It Hass to Be Hass
You know it’s true. While there are many delicious types of avocados growing on our great green earth, Hass is always the best for eating fresh. Thus, it’s the only kind we use in our guacs and salsa. You’re welcome.
Our Hass avocados are grown and picked on farms at peak ripeness, then scooped by hand and mixed with a variety of fresh ingredients to create these creamy, delicious dips.
Real Lime Juice, Not From Concentrate
This might not sound like a big deal, but boy-oh-boy it is! If you’ve tried real lime juice, you know it’s heads above concentrated lime juice in terms of flavor. Yet surprisingly, most commercial producers of guac are using the concentrated, not-so-delicious kind. We couldn’t fathom making such a sacrifice with our guac, which is why we’re sticking with the real thing now and forever. ¡Viva las limas!
Keepin’ It Green Without Preservatives
While some brands add chemical preservatives to their guac to keep it fresh, we opted for a natural process that relies on physics—not chemicals. HPP stands for High Pressure Processed, the method we use to preserve our dips. Here’s how it works:
After the guac has been made, packaged and sealed in flexible plastic containers, the product is exposed to high pressures in a chamber of cold water. This process must take place when the product is in its final packaging stage to prevent contamination. Additionally, the flexibility of the plastic packaging allows the guac to expand and contract as needed, which would never be possible in a substance like glass.
The intense pressure eliminates undesirable enzymes, while also neutralizing a variety of microbial pests. At the end of this process, we’re rewarded with a naturally delicious guacamole that lasts longer in the refrigerator, and completely without preservatives.
Another important factor was the decision not to use thickening gums in our guacs and salsa. These recipes are crafted simply and honestly, relying on the innate creaminess of avocado and the welcome acidity of fresh lime juice. To us, it just makes sense to prepare food naturally, like it has been for… thousands of years.
